The technical benefits of choosing rFpro

Benefits

Low latency and high bandwidth ensures the driver closes the loop without phase lag and that the handling and ride inputs are realistic and unfiltered.

Human Factors Simulators

Mainstream simulators focus on human factors and the man machine interface, they are designed for generally low-frequency manoeuvres of road vehicles being driven normally and under control. This requires a very different motion profile, typically taking advantage of 7 or 8DOF systems comprising a 6DOF hexapod on a y-axis rail or a 2DOF x-y table employing techniques such as g-tilt to trade axes in the motion cueing. This motion profile also determines the design of the vision system, the extent of the excursions available on these motion systems, sometimes several metres in both x & y, mean that you must implement on-platform vision systems. Such systems, while delivering very good results for mainstream simulation, are too massive and too slow for vehicle dynamics engineering and testing.

Vehicle Dynamics Simulators

rFpro is designed to provide driver-in-the-loop simulation of high-frequency dynamic manoeuvres for the testing and development of vehicle handling and ride. The low-latency architecture means that test drivers can engage in limit-performance manoeuvres around the envelope of the vehicle's handling capabilities, fully exploiting the vehicle dynamics capabilities of the car, it's active safety systems and associated control systems. At the same time rFpro's high-bandwidth feed to the vehicle model allows faithful reproduction of the ride characteristics of the vehicle, limited only by your tyre model's capabilities and not constrained by your road database.
